Full Job Description

We are looking for a Mechanical operator to join our highly motivated and energetic Cut & Edge Boardshop team based at a reputable retailer in Pretoria, Gauteng.

Responsibilities and Duties include, among other

  • Skill and expertise in operating woodwork machinery
  • Maintenance of Machinery to ensure efficiency while conforming to quality standards
  • Starts machine and feeds components into a machine that applies glue to edges of stock, pulls edging strips from feed chute onto edges, dries glue on heated plates
  • Reading and interpreting cut lists, and following verbal instructions
  • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment
  • Cleaning the machine and workstation at the end of a shift and ensuring that the preventative maintenance schedule is adhered to which will indicate parts that need to be regularly oiled/greased and sprayed

Qualifications and SkillsEssential Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of experience Must be willing to work the retail hour Own Vehicle is essential to have a “can do” positive and enthusiastic attitude

NSFAS To Soon Introduce More Ways To Apply For Bursaries

 NSFAS will soon introduce more methods of applying for the bursary. These methods will make it easier for more students the opportunity to apply for funding.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will shortly launch additional application methods. These include WhatsApp, mobile app and USSD.

Due to come issues with these methods, NSFAS has halted these alternative application methods. These new application methods will be released to the public once they have stabilized the new system and all issues have been addressed.

NSFAS provides financial assistance to students to further their education. The bursary is available to students who meet the bursary requirements and hope to pursue their studies at public universities and TVET Colleges.

In the meantime, students may apply for the bursary online via the NSFAS website. Here is how to submit an online NSFAS application:

  1. Create a myNsfas account.
    • If you have an existing myNsfas account, click on ‘login’ when going to myNsfas and complete your information.
    • If you don’t have a myNsfas account, click on ‘Create account’.
  2. Log into your myNsfas account.
  3. Click on ‘Apply’.
  4. Answer the questions on the screen.
  5. Upload the required supporting documents.
  6. Click on ‘Submit’.
  7. You will then receive an application reference number.

Unisa: 2023 - 2024 Applications Now Open

 Recently, the University of South Africa (Unisa) celebrated its impact that it continues to have on accounting education by being the highest contributor to the Chartered Accountant profession in the country.

The College of Accounting Sciences has a number of courses to choose from if you aspire to be in the financial sector.

The university also has an offering of diverse qualifications that you can choose from, should you be interested in joining the open distance e-learning university.

In a statement, Unisa announced:

Applications for admission to study through Unisa in 2023 open on 1 September 2022 for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas.

With Unisa being an open-distance learning e-learning university, you will have the option of studying full-time or part-time while working, while structuring your own schedule in order to complete each course you will be registered for.

Who can apply?

Applications are open for the following individuals:

  1. First-time Unisa applicants
  2. Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or specialisation
  3. Applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered a space or who were offered a space, accepted the offer and did not register
  4. Students completing a higher certificate or any other programme and who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies

The university has also shared that the admissions application period for masters and doctorate programmes will run from 11 September 2023

Students have also been encouraged to apply as soonest, as spaces quickly fill up.

It is advisable that students do their own thorough research as part of the process of choosing their career path and make use of the university’s facilities for career guidance.
